AMAZONAS

Manaus is the capital of the state of Amazon, the greater of Brazil. It is located next to the union of the rivers Amazon and Negro strategically. Known as "city of the forest", it is a modern city, the Europeans had mounted an efficient urban infrastructure here. The city appeared of a small town that was developed thanks to the rubber production, and allowed to the construction of admirable workmanships architectural.

MANAUS

Finished the cycle of the rubber, Manaus entered in decay, but it had a radical evolution in 1967 with the implantation of the Commercial and Industrial Zona Franca. Into this moment, the city was become into a great producing electronic equipment center. Moreover, favours to the increasing flow of foreign tourists and the commercial expansion of the state of Amazon, a beautiful airport was constructed and was established a great net of conventional hotels and forest.

The capital of Amazon also possess important museums that allow to better know the history of the region, as the Museum of the Indian, who presents an interesting object collection of aboriginal tribes of the high Black river; Museum of Natural Sciences of the Amazônia, where great variety of insects and animals dissected can be found; the Museum of the Man of the North, with collections that testify the way of life, customs and culture of the local inhabitants; e the Museum of the Port, with parts, documents, and instruments of inglese that they had constructed the port zone in 1904.
Finished in 1896 and restored in 1929, the Amazon Theater was constructed by artists and with materials originating the Europe. It presents a neoclassic façade, its interior it is decorated in the style art nouveau and counts, among others, with paintings of Capranesi and Angelis. The central ship, in harp form, has capacity for 640 spectators. One of the elements most traditional is the cupola with French roofing tiles in the colors green, blue and turns yellow. Other buildings of interest are the Palace of Justice, with some traces of the French architecture, and the Municipal Market, an imitation of the commercial center Les Halles of Paris.
 

AMAZONIAN FOREST

The main attraction of the region is, without a doubt, Amazon, the biggest basin of river of the world. The Amazonian Forest is directly responsible for the production of 50% of the total volume of oxygen produced in the world, thus known for "lung of the world".

A TOUR BY AMAZON REGION
- Municipal Theater: The Theater is located in the center of the city of Manaus, was constructed in the end of XIX century (1896), one of the landmarks of the rubber golden time. A beautiful construction that certainty must be visited;
- Municipal Market: Also located in the center of Manaus, the Municipal Market is much visited by foreign tourists, it is a faithful rejoinder of the old Municipal Market of Paris, destroyed in World War II;
- Beach of the Ponta Negra: region of bigger luxury of Manaus, with modern residential building. In front of the River Negro, a beautiful beach that attracts swimmers of all the city. It possess as the main attraction of the city, the Hotel Tropical the most luxuous.
- Museum of the Seringal: Constructed in 2001 for the writings of the Portuguese film “Forest”, it turned on to a museum and today it shows a little of the history of the time of the rubber and about the seringueiros that lived and his commanders. To arrive there you have to go until a port in the Ponta Negra and ask for a boatman to lead until the Museum of the Seringal in the Village Paradise, the stroll must cost around 10 Reals for person, with right to a ticket for the Beach of the Moon, and the tax of visitation of the museum is of R$ 5,00.
- Meeting of Waters: one of the most looked attractions by the tourists, less than 2 km of the center of Manaus, are the waters of the River Negro finding the waters of River Solimões, forming this two color river union an spectacle of the nature.
- Floating Hotel: one of several floating hotels that exists in the region, following full and the down tide of the river, always crowded of tourist whom want to look to know the forest.
- Focalization of Alligator: in the night tourists leaves with guides for igarapés to search alligators, the guides search alligators to people have contact.
- CIGS (Center of Instruction of War in the Forest): it is a base of the national army that possess a zoo, only with animals of the region, it is a very good visit.
- Forest of the Science of the INPA (Institute of Research of the Amazônia): it is a center of research of wild animals of the region, excellent to observe plough, untied monkeys in the forest, the great attraction are the tanks with the fish-ox. Also it is a very good place to visit.
- President Figueiredo: it is a city 110 km distant of Manaus, through road, tarred. Waterfall circuit, there are some waterfalls in this region, some particulars, closed to the public, but the open ones also exist and are a little desert, the most famous is the Iracema. The center is called Urubui, where exists restaurants and tents with souvenirs of the place. I advise after good waterfall baths a tambaqui fish in the live coal with a baião of 2… you should try the fishes of the region.
