CEARÁ
It constitutes the third economic power of the region, behind Bahia and Pernambuco. After centuries of a basically agrarian economy, the Ceará proved a notable industrial development, led for the textile sector. It is also known as land of the abolition, since it was the first province of the empire that abolished the slavery. |

THE STATE |

In the Tip of Dunes, the biggest park aquatic of the South America meets, the Beach Park. Another point of interest is the National Park Ubajara, with 564 hectares of surface, located in the border of the Ceará with the Piauí. The state of the Ceará counts on one of the main water reserves of the world, the Dam of Orós, constructed in 1960 and compared with the one of Asuan in Egypt. |

FORTALEZA |

The capital of the state, a modern city that presents a vanguardist architecture, of beautiful beaches, high palms and a hot climate. This city also conserves its traditional activities, an example is the "jangadeiros" (fishers) whom are interned in the sea sailing in rafts. While this, to the edges, the women of the fishers carry through delicate embroidered and incomes that compose the handcrafts most famous of the Ceará. In the beach of Mucuripe the spectacle of the return of the rafts to the firm land can be folloied. To know given of the past, nothing better that to carry through a passage for the Museums of Railroad History, the Automobile, Popular Art and Mineralogy. |

Theater Jose de Alencar - Constructed in XIX century, of rich architecture, it has the interior façade made in metal, mixing neoclassics styles and art nouveau. |

Statue of India Iracema - Also interesting to know the statue in homage to the Iracema indian, personage and heading of one of novels of Jose de Alencar, important novel of the pertaining to the state of Ceará novelist and aboriginal literature. |

Central market - For the purchase of local products, the more indicated place is the Central Market, where it can be acquired since clothes until liquors, sugar cane brands and chestnuts of cajú. The Ceará is one of the main producing states of income. |
