MINAS GERAIS
Belo Horizonte is the capital of the state of Minas Gerais and the fourth city of the country in population. Its history is marked by the expeditions that passed here to search for gold and precious rocks. During century XVIII, the abundance of gold favored the embellishment of Ouro Preto. In fact, some of the numerous churches possess altars and columns total covered in gold. |

The capital was born together to the Mountain range of the Corral, a mountainous chain that advances in the horizon and that it integrates the city in a pretty geographic landmark. Created and organized to substitute Ouro Preto as capital of the state, it was inaugurated in 1897. In the beginning of its construction the model of the city of Washington was followed, but its urban development was distanciou of the original project. Of being a planned city, and its joint neoclássicos and modern architectural, model of reference for the urbanism and the architecture of the country consists. Currently it is presented as a modern, dynamic and cosmopolita place, with the infrastructure of the great cities. |

Square of the Freedom - the joint architectural of the Square of the Freedom, constructed at the time of the foundation of the city, more than congregates a synthesis of the different styles applied in the city in its 100 years of history. They coexist buildings of the Public Secretariats and the Palace of the Freedom, seat of government of the state, in the neoclassic style that reflects influence of a French mission that visited the country in the end of century XIX; art decò with covering in dust of rock in the Palace Christ Rey, the modern style of the residence of Niemeyer and also after-modernism of the Tourist Center Tancredo Neves. |

Pampulha - Between the attractive main ones of the city it is the pretty district of Pampulha, headquarters of the first and revolutionary workmanships of Oscar Niemeyer, the known Brazilian architect more of the decade of 40. The complex, protected for the historic site, presents a great encircled artificial lake of mansions. To the edges of the lake it is the Chapel of San Francisco. Also in this space it is the Museum of Modern Art of Belo Horizonte, the Yatch Tennis Club, the House of Ball, the House of Juscelino Kubitschek, the headquarters of Zoo-Botanic Foundation (the garden keeps one of the biggest indices of reproduction in captivity of the country), the Monument of Iemanjá, and as the second stadium of soccer of the country, the Mineirão. The rounded off forms and the insolent style of this complex had influenced all the modern architecture of the country. |

Municipal Park - Other places of interest of Belo Horizonte are the Museums of Mineralogy and Description, and the Palace of the Arts, located inside of the Municipal Park. A complex that groups modern theaters, cinemas, store of artesanato and spaces for exposition of plastic arts. |

OURO PRETO |

It congregates in its interior the biggest colonial treasure of Brazil through colonial churches, museums and constructions, that had made to be declared it National and International Monument for UNESCO.
