PIAUÍ
It is the state of the Brazilian coast with lesser extension of coast, however possess a rich fauna and flora, diverse islands, lagoons, "igarapés" (narrow natural canals between the islands) and fine sand beaches, covered for dunes and coconut palms. |

THE STATE |

Economically it is one of the poorer states of Brazil, but different of other states, it has the advantage to possess the population balanced between the agricultural and urban zone, and a demographic density decrease in relation to the high levels northeast. |

TERESINA |

The Piauí is the only state of the region that is developed until the interior, far of the coast. Teresina, its capital, is located more than the 300 kilometers of the sea. Beyond the coast, it possess many river beaches to the edges of the river Paraíba. It is known as "green city" because all its streets and avenues have trees, mainly hoses. |

Between the monuments that if detach are the Church of Are Benedict, constructed in 1886, with doors wooden one cut, and Theater 4 of September, neoclássico style. Between the workmanships contemporaries, the Church of Ours Mrs. of Lourdes, decorated with sculptures of the masters Dezinho and Expedito, the main saint sculptors of the Piauí, and the Gardens of the Karnak Palace, seat of government of the state. |
