This is the smaller of the region. This one is covered in all its surface by caatinga (typical in Brazilian northeast), and by an tropical forest. The exploration of sugar cane is its main economic activity. Great part of its history describes through fights and resists against the national sovereignty. |

It was established in 1855 to be the capital of the Sergipe, in an ideal space to construct a small transport and to give exit to the produced sugar cane, near of the estuary of the River Sergipe, that discharges in the Atlantic Ocean. Its urbanization is typically colonial. The Church of São Salvador also keeps traces of the time. |

Cathedral Metropolitan - It is one of the main constructions of the city, and presents in its interior a neoclassics painting series, as an image of Nossa Senhora da Conceição. |

Bridge of the Emperor - Without a doubt, this is one of the most surprising points of the city, therefore it does not lead to none place, and it serves solely as a belvedere. It was constructed in 1860 on the River Sergipe for the visit of Emperor Pedro II. |

Historical and Geographic Museum - It is in the center of the city and shelters the indigens caves "igaçabas". Among the many displayed fossiles of the laziness giant skeleton is distinguished. |
